Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center
To engage, educate, enlighten, entertain and enrich the regional community with quality exhibitions of art, including exhibitions of permanent collections held in trust for the benefit of the community, and to develop educational opportunities to enhance access to exhibition concepts and encourage participation in the creative process.
Programs and Services:
Presents important temporary exhibitions and four permanent collections of universal and local significance with a variety of related educational programs and performances orbiting around them.
Offers arts education and cultural enrichment for thousands of children and adults through:
Pre-school story hours in the gallery
Elementary and secondary school exhibition tours
Custom-designed school tours involving studio, performing arts and writing experiences
Multi-week artist residencies
Lunchtime lectures for adults and college students
Evening concerts and theatre events for adult and family audiences
Partners and collaborates with other community organizations and supports local minority communities.
Sponsors Cirque d'Art Theatre, a performing arts affiliate of the Southern Ohio Museum with more than 250 students ranging in age from 6 -18
